WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE WITH SD SEALANTS & COSMETIC REPAIRS?
I’m the Office Sales Manager in our Chepstow head office.
WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE COMPANY?
I joined SD back in 1996, I started as an Assistant Sales Administrator in Gloucester.
SO HOW HAVE YOU PROGRESSED THROUGH SD OVER THE YEARS?
A large part of my experience of coming up through the company has been working in SD’s different franchises across the UK. After working in Gloucester I went to the Cotswold office and helped to organise the team there, then I oversaw the job of setting up the new sales team in the Bristol office. I’ve now been in Chepstow for just over a year in my current position.
WHAT ARE THE KEY ROLES OF YOUR JOB?
My main role is overseeing all SD’s orders and enquiries, which is a pretty big job! Thankfully I’m supported by five great salespeople who I also manage. A key part of my daily management is making sure my team is happy and motivated (as well as keeping our office whiteboard up to date!)
I also liaise with the various other SD departments around the UK and that includes reporting to Andy Sparrow our UK Sales Manager and Nick Jones our Managing Director.
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?
For me one of my big challenges is making sure my team is enthusiastic and enjoying work. I always try and make our office a fun place to work because I think a sales team works much better when there’s a good office atmosphere.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The best thing about my job is that every day is so different, there’s surprise around every corner and you never know where our next client will come from. The dynamic nature of my job definitely helps me to get out of bed and enjoy what I do.
