WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE WITH SD SEALANTS?

I work as a Sealant Applicator and I’m based in the Swindon office.

WHEN DID YOU JOIN THE COMPANY?

I trained as an applicator with SD, joining the company in 1987. After a stint with another company, I returned to SD in 2009.

HOW HAS SD CHANGED IN YOUR TWO STINTS?

The biggest change for me is seeing how the company has grown. SD is now a far more recognisable brand within the industry than when I first worked for them. When I first joined, SD was a small company, now we have offices and clients all over the country.

WHAT IS THE KEY ROLE OF YOUR JOB?

The most important part of my job is to travel around the country to our clients’ sites and apply sealant around key building fixtures and fittings. I seal everything from windows, doors, glass, skirting, lead work, expansion joints, and even swimming pools. My work really depends on the needs of our various clients.

A big part of my role just involves making sure I do a high-quality job with every client. Working at SD means quality has to be central to the sealant services I provide.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?

For me it’s the British weather. On a warm summer’s day there’s nothing better than working outside but when it’s pouring down with rain and freezing cold I wish I could just stay in my van!

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I think the best thing about my job is being able to travel around the UK working on new projects with new clients, that variety really keeps me interested and motivated.
